MISSISSAUGA, January 5, 2000 – With 1999 vehicle sales totaling 13,018, Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) posted a 9.6 per cent increase over 1998, and celebrated its best sales year ever in Canada. It was also the best December ever for SCI, with total retails of 1,010. This 6.4 per cent increase over December of last year extended Subaru’s record-setting sales streak to a phenomenal 54 straight months.

Sales momentum in December was dominated by the new Dynastar Edition of the All-Wheel Drive Forester. Emerging with a vengeance from the shadow of the popular new Legacy and Outback, total Forester retails of 355 for the month represented an impressive 24.1 per cent jump over the same period the previous year.

“This has been an outstanding year for Subaru around the world, but we’re especially proud of what we’ve achieved here in Canada,” said Joe Anwyll, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Subaru Canada, Inc. “Total sales in this country have increased by 300 per cent since 1995, and customer approval just keeps on growing. We’re starting the new century with enormous enthusiasm for what Subaru can accomplish.”
